Dawn Fairclough

Introducing our amazing Apprenticeship Training Coordinator, Dawn Fairclough!

Dawn has been an invaluable part of our team for the past two years, providing essential support to our learners as they work towards success in their Housing apprenticeships.

We caught up with Dawn to discuss her journey with Kingdom so far, and what she enjoys about her role.

How long have you been working at Kingdom? How did it all start?

I have worked with Kingdom Academy since September 2022. I actually followed my line manager here from my previous role, as he told me about all the great things happening within the company!

What is your expertise/role?

I currently work as an Apprenticeship Training Co-ordinator delivering Housing apprenticeships at all levels. I act as a mentor to my learners, supporting them for the duration of their apprenticeship.

I worked in Social Housing for 18 years prior to this role in a variety of roles, so can really resonate with my learners and the roles they do.

I started in the customer service centre taking calls on a variety of issues and progressed to several roles such as Housing Officer, Anti-Social behaviour officer and finishing as a Performance and Development Coach.

What’s your favourite part about working at the company?

I love getting to know my learners and being on the learning journey with them from their first day to sitting their end point assessment.

What are the company’s values you stand for?

The value that stands out and resonates with me the most is ‘Respect’.

I respect all my learners. I like getting to know them and learning about their own unique learning styles. I encourage them to respect each other’s differences and opinions even if they are different to others.

How do you spend your time outside of work? What do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy anything that takes me outside. I love running and playing football and recently played a match at Anfield stadium! As a lifelong Liverpool FC fan, this was a dream come true!

What makes Kingdom Academy unique?

The expertise and knowledge of all the tutors and apprenticeship training co-ordinators makes us stand out. We have a wealth of knowledge from a variety of housing sectors which show in the interesting and interactive workshops we deliver.

What’s your favourite quote?

My favourite quote is one I share with learners on their first day and it’s a quote from John Dewey:

“All genuine learning comes through experience.”

I think this is really fitting with apprenticeships as we can give the learners the knowledge, skills and behaviours but they need to be able to demonstrate and develop these within their job role.
