Meet our Senior Tutor, Adam Brooks, an integral member of our team who plays a significant role in providing the knowledge and skills for strategic housing management roles.
We caught up with Adam to discuss his journey with Kingdom Academy so far and what he enjoys about his role.
How long have you been working at Kingdom? How did it all start?
Since July 2019, I was working for another college also teaching and leading on housing courses. I approached them about a role to develop my work as a Housing Tutor as they offered the full range of housing qualifications, since then I’ve been developing the curriculum including our new courses!
What is your expertise/role?
I am Senior Tutor here, I create and update teaching material, deliver, line manage and have also done apprenticeship training coordinating.
From the 1990’s – 2017, I worked in frontline housing in a range of roles, from volunteer, Housing Officer/Support Worker, Manager and Director. Primarily in roles concerned with homelessness and housing related support.
I have postgraduate housing, management, and leadership qualifications.
What’s your favourite part about working at the company?
I love the teaching, the people and the energy that comes with interacting positively with such a wide range of people. Being inspired by the resilience and skilfulness of the people I work with, both colleagues and learners. Constantly learning new stuff. Creating teaching and learning materials and putting them into action. All incredibly fulfilling.
What are the company’s values you stand for?
Openness and integrity. Being engaged and making a difference.
How do you spend your time outside of work? What do you enjoy doing?
Reading, general fitness (walking, running). Creative and reflective writing. Good conversation. Cinema and theatre going. Being a parent to two teenagers.
