- Kingdom systems frequently asked questions
Everything you want to know about construction site CCTV installation.
Browse some of our most frequently asked questions below.
Q1: I already use other security services. Why do I need CCTV?
Unlike other security services, CCTV is a permanent record of activity that can aid conviction, as well as of other benefits. For example, you can utilise CCTV in non-security related practices such as in workflow management. When CCTV works in partnership with other security services, it gives all-important evidence in severe cases. It provides an effective deterrent to others, supporting the work that patrols and security personnel do and acts as a constant security presence on any site.
Q2: I’ve tried a CCTV system previously and it didn’t work. Why will Kingdom products be any different?
Not all CCTV systems are born equal. As well as differences in camera quality and functionality, CCTV systems are often built to suit specific environments — not to be a one-size-fits-all product. That’s why we tailor our CCTV solutions by conducting a site audit for every single client we work with. By doing this, we can diagnose which systems you’ll benefit from the most, so you never pay for technology that isn’t right for your requirements. Of course, we also champion next-generation CCTV products that use things like artificial intelligence to progress the capabilities of surveillance systems, so you can get more out of the systems you use and build the best physical defence possible.
Q3: My site is located in a problem area where vandalism is rife. What’s the risk of installing CCTV? Is it worth the investment?
Yes. CCTV is worth the investment, so long as you install it correctly and pick the right system to suit your needs. For example, dome CCTV cameras are less prone to vandalism due to their cylindrical shape and robust polycarbonate casing. With expert engineers on the job, the risk of investing in CCTV for it to only fail is low. Well-staged CCTV presents an opportunity to deter vandals and stop anti-social behaviour for good.
Q4: I don’t know which CCTV system to choose. How do I know which CCTV technology will work best?
We’ll help you. As experts in CCTV, we advise on which surveillance systems will best suit your environment so you can cover as much ground as possible and provide an effective deterrent, paying only for what works. Whether you’re in retail or construction, you’re a house builder or a government member; we work with you to understand your greatest security challenges and overcome them with well-positioned surveillance systems.
Q5: I need more than just surveillance cameras. Can I only hire CCTV?
Although we primarily hire CCTV cameras, we offer much more than standalone systems, offering support services such as installation, monitoring and response as standard. We also conduct site surveys to determine which CCTV you’ll need, so you never need to worry about paying for a system that won’t work in practice. As we partner with Kingdom Security, Kingdom Recruitment and Kingdom Local Authority Support, it means we’re always able to signpost you to other services you might need, such as the provision of fully trained security guards or help with local law enforcement.
Q6: I need help with installation. How does this work?
We never sell CCTV and then leave organisations in the lurch. With the help of our expert engineers, we install CCTV on-site, safely and securely, ensuring you get maximum coverage. Depending on the project, installation is usually a quick affair, entailing little disruption to your day-to-day operations. If you have concerns around the installation, we can also discuss options for phased introduction or arranging an out-of-hours set-up.
Q7: I need help with monitoring. How does this work?
All of our systems are monitored by an NSI Gold accredited monitoring centre. Highly trained and experienced, the operators work from the most advanced facility in the UK. Although many systems are successful in deterring criminal activity just by their presence alone, we never rely on the simple appearance of CCTV to solve crime. Rather, we roll out surveillance systems with their intended use to capture anomalous activity and put companies in a better position to tackle it.
Q8: I need help with response. How does this work?
Response is an essential service, allowing organisations to act on CCTV’s detection. Our SIA licensed, highly trained mobile response units are primed to attend any on-site activations. In the event of an activation, our response units will attend immediately to check the integrity of your site security.
Q9: My site is remote and/or off-grid. How will CCTV work for me?
Solar CCTV is the perfect solution for remote sites. That’s because it doesn’t require an external power source. Instead, it uses solar panels to convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity.Lack of sunlight isn't an issue either. When there isn't sunlight, the solar power CCTV receives power from rechargeable batteries which store extra electrical energy generated by the solar panel. You can monitor your CCTV remotely too. This is done by connecting your CCTV to a remote monitoring station via WiFi or 4G Sim Cards. The CCTV can stay connected 24/7 or be switched on in the evenings or when your site is left unattended.
Q10: My site has uneven ground. How easy will it be to install CCTV?
Our expert engineers will complete a site survey and design a bespoke CCTV security solution best suited to your environment, including sites that have uneven ground. We also offer a range of CCTV solutions that can be integrated into buildings too, such as a fixed system.
Q11: I need surveillance after-hours. Can CCTV still work in the dark?
Thermal cameras work by sensing temperature and detecting heat. This enables them to pick up suspicious activity after dark. These types of cameras are ideal where 24/7 visibility is required. As long as your site has artificial lights that work as a sensor, AI camera detection can also operate after dark. These solutions deliver real-time monitoring of video footage, providing intelligent analysis of potential security incidents and raising the alarm if needed. This means you can be much more reactive to any potential security threats, whether you’re on-site or not.
Q12: I’m worried CCTV is too expensive or won’t fit into my budget. How can I calculate the cost of CCTV, as well as how many cameras I’ll need on-site?
Our team will work closely with you to devise a tailored solution that meets your needs. Once we’ve priced up your CCTV package, we’ll take the time to explain what coverage and services you’ll get for the price. Supplier and client relationships are paramount to us, so we can be flexible to ensure you see a return on investment from your CCTV solution.
Q13: I think I need some form of surveillance, but I’m not sure which system to choose. How can I make sure I’m purchasing suitable CCTV systems?
The right supplier will undertake an extensive audit of your site and provide you with a range of options that match your requirements. An expert site surveyor will know the type of camera ideal for each part of your site to supply a robust deterrent from thefts occurring.
Q14: I know which CCTV system I want, but I don’t know where to put it. How can I determine CCTV placement to ensure the right coverage?
Our experts will do all the hard work for you, mapping out the logistics of installation. Depending on which CCTV system you’ve chosen, we might suggest an alternative or explain why and where we would position such a system to get the most coverage and visibility possible. Specific cameras such as 360 cameras and dome cameras give more coverage than others. However, our team will know the type of camera ideal for each part of your site, ensuring every area is covered.
Q15: I’m not sure how people will react to the presence of CCTV on my site. How can I predict what people will think of surveillance systems?
Generally, the public welcomes CCTV as it shows a firm is proactive in removing anti-social behaviour. CCTV makes people feel safer and is now commonplace in the UK. Criminals and vandals recognise CCTV to be a common deterrent and so it remains effective with offenders. Even if there’s a period of adjustment when installing CCTV, the outcome is better for everyone — creating cleaner, safer spaces for everyone.Depending on the CCTV system you choose, cameras can be subtle and almost undetectable (such as ceiling dome systems). However, if you want your cameras to act as a clear and obvious deterrent, we also offer solutions such as the AI 360 tower.
Q16: I’m looking for a trustworthy contractor to help with CCTV. How do I know that Kingdom Systems can deliver what I need?

Q18: I need CCTV immediately. How quickly can CCTV be installed?

Some of our solutions can be installed in just a few hours; others may take a little longer. When you’re booked in for installation, the set-up is quick and easy and not invasive as our experts have vast experience in positioning and installing CCTV.
